First-Time Student Application Process

The following steps are required for all international students applying to attend Dixie State University in order to receive an I-20. First you must:

1. Complete Application

Complete the International Student Application for Admissions.

2. Pay Application Fee

The application fee is $75. After your application is submitted, you will be emailed with instructions on how to pay the fee.

3. Provide a Bank Statement

International students planning to attend Dixie State University must provide their own or their sponsor’s bank statements for at least the past three months. The amount shown must be at least $22,450 USD.

4. Complete an Affidavit of Support

If a sponsor will be assisting you with your cost of attendance, they must complete the Affidavit of Support Form. You may have multiple sponsors, but each sponsor must complete a separate form.

5. Submit Secondary School Academic Records

Please submit your secondary school academic records. If you are interested in receiving the International Freshman Merit Scholarship, you must submit a complete transcript. However, if you are not interested in receiving the scholarship, you may submit a diploma or examination certificate.

6. Submit a Copy of your Passport

Provide a color copy of your passport.

7. Provide Proof of English Proficiency (Not required for ESL students)

If English is not your primary language, you must prove English proficiency by submitting one of the documents listed below:

  • A TOEFL score of at least 68
  • A IELTS score of at least 6.0
  • An ACT English score of 17+
  • An Evidence Based Reading/Writing SAT score of 24+

If your scores are lower than the scores listed above, you will automatically be issued an I-20 for ESL. If you do begin with ESL classes, you can also pursue a degree after completing ESL.

Once you are admitted, please complete the following to receive your I-20:

1. Pay Admission Deposit

You will need to pay the $500 admission deposit before we can mail you your I-20. You will be given further instructions on how to pay the admission deposit when that time comes. The deposit will automatically go towards your first semester tuition. If you are denied a visa or choose not to attend Dixie State University, $478 of the deposit will be refunded to you as long as you notify our office via email by August 13, 2018.

2. Complete a DS-160 Application

Once you receive your I-20 in the mail, you will need to complete a DS-160 application. You will be interviewing for an F-1 visa: a student visa. You can find the DS-160 application here. The cost of this application is $160.

3. Pay I-901 Fee

You will need to pay the $200 I-901 fee. Instructions on paying that fee with be sent to you with your I-20.
